True stories from a place I love. All the characters are real people and the incidents actually happened.

RESERVOIR ROAD
©Martin Craig

Take a walk
Down Reservoir Road
Stop and talk
Maybe share your load

There's music from the doorsteps
Couples in the street
Leaning on lamp posts
Moving to the beat

It's always quiet
On Reservoir Road
Just before
Everything EXPLODES

He's fresh out of B-Wing
His arm in a cast
Someone says his girlfriend's
Face got glassed

So he's down at the Club
With a face like Hell
Brought down the ceiling
With a shotgun shell

Now there's more bad blood
On Reservoir Road
Where nobody
Dares to break the code

Wind off the river
The sun won't shine
The Night Squad's here
To cut your credit line

A mother looks up
As the Police roll by
The chopper's overhead
But she don't know why

Till her boy comes running
Down Reservoir Road
He was born convicted
By his own postcode

Smiling politician
Says the mother's to blame
Flaky Opposition
Simply says the same

And it's always quiet
On Reservoir Road
Just before
Everything EXPLODES
